Judgement and shame

Have you been dieting for years and now with this health crisis don’t even have a way to avoid the areas that are “dangerous” for a dieter? (like the kitchen etc) I understand and I won’t lie, I still hear that little voice pop up sometimes.
.
.
However, mind and body eating coaching has made powerful lasting connenctions for me that changed my entire relationship with food and body.
.
.
An example of transformation in your relationship with food might be like this –
.
.
Before-
I avoided food as much as possible.
I rushed through my allotted meal for dinner and never “allowed” myself to eat dessert.
On a subconscious level I didn’t ever really allow myself to enjoy food.
.
.
Now-
I don’t need to avoid food, i’m not afraid of food.
I often sit at mealtime with the family and talk and laugh (or supervise ;)) having an experience while eating.
I enjoy the food I eat and am done eating once satisfied.
.
.
One example of a powerful connection is this-
I used to label myself as an emotional eater. But here’s the thing…by learning to label what I do as a behavior rather than labeling myself as something that may be perceived as negative…It helps remove the shame.
.
.
Here’s a nugget from psychology of eating ⤵️

“When we identify with a behavior to the point where it defines us, it can actually prevent us from managing the behavior.”
.
.
Rather than judgement, we can learn from experiences.
Rather than measure food, we can listen to our body.
Rather than judge body weight, we can value the human being for who they ARE. ❤️
.
.
If you found this “nugget” helpful let me know in the comments and I’ll share more soon.

Priorities

Who are your peeps?

Hey there,
.
How are you holding up?
.
I’ll be honest, although I’ve been mostly home
all week … somehow the fact that now we are required to stay home or be fined, feels a tad different. (Although of course, I get it and want to be safe and keep others safe too). It just feels daunting to be told to stay without knowledge of what the future holds.
.
Maybe you can relate, sometimes it can be hard trust that everything is going to be ok when your world feels unpredictable!?
.
But, if you stop. And then remember it’s just this day…we can learn trust. In this current moment, I’m ok. I hope you are ok too.
.
Trust reminds us that a larger force sees the bigger picture.
.
The thing that seems most ironic about my current predicament is this – For years I’ve felt like there’s never enough hours in the day to get things done…(maybe you can relate to that!?) However, now in some ways it feels to me that time is standing still.
.
But, guess what? Time isn’t standing still …it’s just a required break. A lesson in slowing down, if you choose it! ?
.
As my mama always used to say, this too shall pass.
.
A benefit I choose from this current situation for me is clarity.
.
I choose to focus on what matters most!

To all the Mamas during Corona school shut down…

You’re doing GREAT!

If you are anything like I have been (especially since being a mom) You may understand what I’m about to say…
.
I’ve often felt overwhelmed. I agree, my kids are cute…But if I am honest it has been easy for me to feel overwhelmed by my job as a mom which then tends to lead to feeling “not good enough”. (The fact that I’m real empathetic tends to make this more of a challenge).
.
If you are sitting there reading and thinking, ME TOO! ❤ This next bit is for you!
.
What I have found super helpful is to work on determination of what is priority that day and even in each MOMENT! Because if I know what my priorities are and act intentionally to make those things (in this case, people) priority, then I can look back and realize …
.
I DID do the best I could at that moment.
.
Sure, the teens don’t agree that I’m a good mom, at least not all the time.
Sure, there might be more kids talking at once then I can actually really hear.
Sure, the kids might fight…and some days it feels like All.Day.Long.
.
However, when we live intentionally…then we can celebrate our efforts
.
So, this goes out to all you mamas with kids coming home to stay for a bit here.
.
You’ve got this!
You are AMAZING!
.
As my own mama used to often say, this too shall pass.
.
I’m rooting for you, for US!
.
They will remember how we made them feel, not the actual day(s) events!
.
Keep smiling, keep shining ?

What is fear?

Fear – is it Feeling or fact?

Let’s talk about fear. Ok?
If I’m honest, I’ve lived most my life feeling afraid.
I didn’t recognize what the feeling was, but I was living in reaction to pretty much everything in life rather than responding to the situations that I found myself in.

If you are anything like me, as you read this you may think to yourself … Me too!? Well, what I strongly feel is important for you to realize is YOU are not your feelings. YOU were fearfully and wonderfully made.

If this resonates with you and you’d like to face your feelings, send me a message. I am here for you! ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This week I’ve had this underlying nagging feeling bugging me all week long. This morning it finally hit me, it’s time to face this “giant”! (“Side-note” – I just published my autobiography on amazon!) When I stopped to ask myself why do I feel off – the first answer I had was this … I AM afraid. (The reason I wrote the word AM in capital letters is quite significant!) The aha moment that followed that thought was life changing, really!

I personally, AM not afraid. Rather I feel afraid. Fear is simply a feeling. And feelings come and go.

Therefore, I AM me. I AM not my fears.?? #DietCultureFreedom

Be your own BFF

Treat your body like it belongs to someone you LOVE!

Hey there.
.
If you are anything like me, you may find yourself reflecting on the week. I find Saturday’s can be a great day for that.

.
In evaluating your week, did it go smoothly or maybe it has been more of a bumpy ride lately…
.
Challenges in life are inevitable. That’s a fact.
.
No matter who you are and how great your life is, everyone has their trials.
.
I’ve found this question to be helpful – If you were coaching someone you really cared about, what would you advice be?
.
If you really want to grow – It’s time to be your own best friend, cheerleader and inspiration.
.
You can do it!

Advice

I may have been thinner, but I wasn’t happier.
.
When this picture was taken I had been strictly on a diet and had just finally reached that “magical” number on the scale. But I was SO stressed about maintaining it.
.
(In hindsight – If that number was so magical why was it so hard to maintain it and why didn’t I feel better?)
.
Here’s the thing … Diet programs concentrate mostly on what we eat and that is important.
.
However, now I focus more on how food makes me feel.
.
I choose to not live my life with regrets but if I could choose one bit of advice for my younger self, I’d say this ⤵️
.
❣️Choose joy
❣️Choose to appreciate the current moment
❣️Choose happiness in your own lot in life

Because you were meant for more than JUST dieting! ?

Have you ever found yourself halfway through a carton of ice cream alone after a hard day and then wondered why you did that!?(Again?)
.
Guess what? You aren’t alone in that AND it’s not your fault. It’s your programming.

If you are ready for a sustainable change, just send me a message.
.
I know you may be nervous but you can do it. I believe in you ?
.
Today could be the day you change your life forever! Carpe Diem! ⭐️

Hi fellow eater,

Did you know that 98-99% of people who lose weight on a weight loss program, gain it back and more within the first year? If you are anything like I’ve been (yo-yo dieting most of my life), maybe you too have wondered why it is so challenging to lose weight and keep it off.

Perhaps you too find it helpful to understand why you do what you do. Good news, by being curious I discovered there are answers to our questions. I discovered so many limiting beliefs kept me stuck. I share them in this story so you can understand you are not alone.

By breaking free from diet culture I’ve been able to overcome some major limiting beliefs leading to much more freedom and happiness in my life.

In asking questions in recent years, here’s one of the biggest takeaways I have had – Our brain is like a supercomputer. The subconscious brain is the hard drive. All our memories are stored in our subconscious and tend to “drive the bus”, if we aren’t intentional.

Here’s the reason this interests me so much, I lived most of my life in a stress response. I reacted to what came my way in the way I believed was appropriate at that point. (I didn’t know any other way than this, life happens to you and you make the best of it.)

The reality is this, we can see life one of two ways. Either life is happening happening to you or life is happening for you.

By buying this book you can have an insight into what life looked like before and after I let my weight define my happiness. I hope you find it helpful in overcoming your own limiting beliefs so you too can be free.

If you do find this book helpful, please leave a review so even more people can benefit from my story.
Thank you for your interest and support. I appreciate you and wish you all the very best.

Love,

Jen
